Die seit 2001 im Rahmen eines PCR (Programme Collectif Régional) durchgeführte Gemeinschaftsarbeit über das Ende des Neolithikums und den Beginns der Bronzezeit im Zentrum Nordfrankreichs führt heute zu einer neuen Periodisierung der Zeit zwischen 3600 und 1800 v. Chr. in acht Etappen. Obwohl, insbesondere bezüglich der Transition zwischen dem Mittel-und dem Jungneolithikum einerseits und dem Jung-und dem Endneolithikum andererseits, auch weiterhin einige Lücken bestehen, erlaubt dieser präzisere Rahmen die Hauptetappen im Zentrum Nordfrankreichs mit denen der benachbarten Regionen zu synchronisieren, um eine dynamischere Vision der kulturellen Phänomene vorzuschlagen.

This book, resulting from a national investigation conducted by Inrap, is an analytical presentation of the rhythms of the emergence and abandonment of rural settlements during the Second Iron Age in the northern half of France. Depending on the region studied, between the 5th century BC and the 1st century AD, rural settlements were established, and have now been studied through preventative archaeological operations covering large surfaces. These studied updated our knowledge of the Gallic countryside, integrating paleobotanical, zooarchaeological and climatic data. The collective work carried out since 2001 within the framework of a Programme Collectif de Recherche (PCR) on the Late Neolithic and the beginning of the Bronze Age in the central part of northern France leads today to a new periodisation in 8 stages for the period between 3600 and 1800 BC. Although several gaps remain, particularly for the transitions between the Middle Neolithic and the Late Neolithic on one hand and between the Late Neolithic and the Final Neolithic on the other hand, this more precise chronological frame allows to synchronize the main stages of the central part of northern France with those of the nearby regions, to propose a more dynamic vision of cultural phenomena.
